These primitive arachnids are common in many arid zones of the world. They can be very large and intimidating, and I would encounter them regularly in my house when I lived in Niger / West Africa. It helps to know they do not have poison glands!

A species of Band-Winged Grasshopper (Oedipodinae) with one side of wings opened, which I had in my collection of about 50 species from the Region of Tillabery / Niger.
